Proactive Video Messaging Service to Connect Inmates with Their Families

Legacy Inmate Communications, a leading provider of correctional communication technologies, offers a secure, affordable, and convenient Video Messaging Service for inmates to stay connected with their loved ones.

Adding Video Messages to Your Existing Communication Service Package

Any of Legacy’s current correctional agency clients with video visitation units already installed at their facilities are eligible to add secure video messaging to their inmate communications package at no additional cost. Video Messaging allows inmates to receive pre-recorded 60-second video messages from their friends or family members. Video Messaging also offers great potential for generating new revenues since Legacy will pay your agency the already contracted commission percentage on the revenue generated by the newly added video messaging service.

How It Works

Friends and Family

By using their existing prepaid services account, friends and family can fund, record, and send video messages through Legacy’s website from their computer or mobile device. Those without an account can easily set one up by calling our 24-hour customer service number at (888) PAY-4-FAM or by logging on to Legacy’s Friends & Family website at

Your staff can review and approve video messages around the clock through the iCON communication management system. There is no need to move between multiple systems for your facility’s inmate calling, video visitation, or messaging services. All messages are stored securely and will go through an approval process prior to being delivered to the inmate’s inbox.

All of our communication services are seamlessly integrated so your facility will have complete control over the review process—the system can either be configured to auto-approve incoming messages or you can require that all messages undergo a manual review and approval process prior to their delivery.

After a message is approved by facility staff and delivered to the inmate’s inbox, the inmate can access the message from any video visitation unit by simply entering their PIN number.

Safe and Secure

Legacy’s Video Messaging service is safe and secure, with all messages processed through our own secure communications network and website. The system can also be configured to require approval by your facility’s staff prior to the delivery of all messages.

Convenient Communication, Anytime

With Video Messaging, your constituents (Friends & Family) will no longer have to wait around for their phone to ring. They can now proactively initiate communications with their incarcerated loved one. Once a video message has been sent, the message will be waiting for the inmate in their inbox the next time they access one of the facility’s video visitation kiosks or Bridge Communication Devices.

Another Affordable Way to Stay in Touch

Legacy’s messaging rates are extremely affordable. By adding this new service, your facility is providing another easy, affordable, and convenient way for inmates to stay connected to their outside support system, serving to increase inmate morale and reduce recidivism.

Additional Revenue Generation for your Agency

Legacy’s inmate Video Messaging service also provides an additional avenue of revenue generation for your agency. Legacy will immediately begin paying the commission percentage already agreed upon in our current contract for the other communication services at your facility on the revenue generated from this new service. Inmates and friends and family tend to use this service frequently and appreciate the overall convenience and affordability.

Increased Investigative Opportunities

With added communication comes the opportunity to gather more investigative data about potential criminal behavior. Video Messaging is another source of evidence that may be used to help prevent and solve crimes. Video messages can be downloaded and reviewed by your staff at any time through Legacy’s communication management system, iCON. Also, running a report on a specific inmate’s communications will list not only their phone calls but also their video messages, video visits, and any other type of message service they have used.

Ease of Implementation

Adding inmate Video Messaging to your communications package is a seamless process since all of our communication services are fully integrated into the same system you are already using to manage, monitor, and investigate your inmate phone calls and video visits.

Your inmates already use the video visitation units installed at your facilities for other services like video visitation. Adding this new service will serve to expand inmates’ ability to stay connected with their loved ones without requiring any modification to your facility’s communications hardware infrastructure.

Legacy can turn up video messaging services in as little as a few days, at any time throughout your agency’s contract term, remotely and without the need for an on-site technician visit, and at no additional cost to your agency.

Your constituents, inmates, and staff will be reaping the benefits of this new service in no time. It’s that simple!

Education, Marketing, and Support are Covered

Your agency does not need to worry about educating inmates and the public on this new service and there is no extra work required from your staff to manage it apart from the review and approval process your agency decides to implement.

Legacy will ensure that your inmates and constituents are aware of and know how to use all the communications services available to them. Legacy will provide informative literature explaining how to use each service and how to create and fund prepaid accounts.

The public can log on to our website at or call our 24-hour live customer support at 888-PAY-4-FAM to receive help at any time, day or night.
